GRAPHIC DESIGN
Album Artwork
The first thing a consumer will look at is your album cover. It's the leading
form of advertisement for your music other than radio of course. Our graphic
design team uses up to date tools and software that meet the print industry
standards providing you with professional graphic design for your albums, posters,
concert posters, hand bills, artist promotional package design, graphic consultation
and industry guidelines.
If you are doing the artwork yourself, please contact us for templates and
software applications best suited for your purposes and remember that 300dpi
is a minimum requirement for all of your work.
Website Design
With todays internet standards a website is a must for any artist. Having people
from all over the world listen to your music can multiply your album sales
exponentially. Our web designers are versed in not only the ways to achieve
the look you want, but in color psychology, sales approaches, marketing, copywriting,
and hosting issues!
Making music is your passion.
Designing and managing your website is our business.
TECHNICAL TERMS
·Disc face: The surface of the CD or CD-R. Keep in mind that the natural colour
of the surface of a CD and a CD-R is silver.
·Insert: The piece of print material at the front of the jewel case. It is also
referred to as the cover or the booklet.
·1 panel, 2 panel, 3 panel, etc.: Panels are the portions of the 'insert'. For
example, a birthday card has 2 panels (left and right). You can also count the
number of panels on an insert by the number of folds an insert has (and add 1).
(1 panel = no fold, 2 panel = 1 fold, 3 panel = 2 folds, etc.) The maximum
amount of panels an insert can have is 6. If more than 6 panels are
required for your project, you can move on to a booklet (a CD-sized book with
stapled pages).
·Tray card: The piece of print material at the back of the jewel case. It is
also referred to as the tray liner.
PRINTING TERMS
·4+1 (4/1): Full colour on one side of all print material and black & white or
grayscale on the other side.
·4+4 (4/4): Full colour on all sides of print material.
·CMYK: These are the 4 colours the professional printing industry uses to create
all colours = Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black. All artwork should be converted to
CMYK mode before sending off for print.
·Bleed: It is a safety zone on all artwork (standard in the print industry).
It is an 1/8" on all sides of your artwork that will get cut off once the material
has been printed. This space must be filled in with your background images and
colours. Because print material moves during the printing and cutting stages,
bleed is necessary to avoid white space on the edges of your insert and tray
card.
·White counts as a colour?
When it comes to printing on the "disc face", white counts as an extra color
because of the natural color of the disc itself being silver. If white is part
of your design, a layer of white ink must be applied to the surface of the
silver disc.
